Quick Navigation
What is Whiteout Survival?
Whiteout Survival is a mobile base-building strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic ice age. You lead a frozen settlement, managing survivors, resources, troops, and heroes to grow powerful enough to dominate the server and survive the relentless cold.
Your Furnace is your lifeblood — it heats your settlement and determines your power level. Every upgrade unlocks new buildings, troops, and possibilities.
Train Infantry, Lancers, and Marksmen — a rock-paper-scissors troop system. Choose your hero lineup and march formation wisely.
Alliances are the backbone of progression. Alliance war, collective research, rally attacks, and mutual protection define the end game.
State vs State (SVS) events pit your entire server against others. This is the ultimate test of your alliance's power and coordination.
Top 10 Rules Every Player Must Know
- 1Furnace is everything. Your Furnace (HQ) level gates every other upgrade. Always prioritize it, but only upgrade when you meet all prerequisites.
- 2Always be training troops. Your training queue should never sit empty. Consistent troop production compounds massively over weeks.
- 3Growth research first. Tool Enhancement and Tooling Up (Growth tree) multiply every future investment — faster research, faster builds. Do these before any Economy or Battle nodes.
- 4Join an active alliance immediately. Alliance help reduces build times by hours. Never build or research without requesting help first.
- 5Shield when you sleep. If your troops or resources exceed what your hospital and storehouse can protect, use a peace shield overnight.
- 6Do every event. Events like Bear Traps, Polar Terror, and Alliance War are your best sources of speedups, gems, and rare materials.
- 7Don't upgrade in isolation. Furnace upgrades require matching military, economy, and tech buildings. Plan ahead to avoid bottlenecks.
- 8Hero skill points matter. Always level your most-used heroes fully before spreading XP around. Diluted heroes underperform in every area.
- 9Gather constantly. Send gathering marches whenever you're not actively playing. Passive resource gain from tiles is critical for growth.
- 10Don't rush Furnace upgrades. A rushed Furnace with weak research, gear, and troop counts creates a permanently weak account. Build strength at each level.

Settings to Configure Immediately
Enable march return and building completion notifications. Knowing when troops return keeps your march slots active and resources protected.
Set your language for alliance communication. Most top alliances operate in English — bilingual players have a significant social advantage.
On weaker devices, lower graphics quality to reduce battery drain. The game is CPU-heavy during SVS events especially.
Resource Management
Resources are the engine of everything. Mismanaging them is the #1 reason players stall. Understand what each resource does, how to produce it, and how to protect it.
Resource Priority by Stage
| Stage | Top Priority | Secondary | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early (F1–15) | Food + Wood | Coal | Wood costs skyrocket for building upgrades |
| Mid (F15–22) | Coal + Iron | Food | Military expansion requires iron constantly |
| Late (F22–30) | Steel + Food | Iron | T7+ troops eat food and steel in massive amounts |
| End Game (F30+) | Steel + Gems | Food | Steel gates every high-end upgrade; gems for speed |
How to Maximize Resource Production
- Upgrade Hunter's Hut to match your Furnace level — it's your primary meat (food) source
- Research Food Production nodes in the Economy tree
- Gather food (meat) tiles on the world map with spare march slots
- Critical: Food is consumed as a training cost when queuing troops, and by the Cookhouse for survivor meals. Running low on meat? Lower your Cookhouse meal quality — three tiers exist: Fancy Meal (highest meat cost) → Nutritious Meal → Healthy Gruel (lowest). Drop to Healthy Gruel when meat is tight, or pause bulk troop training temporarily
- Use VIP status for passive food production bonus
- Upgrade Sawmill and Coal Mine to Furnace level
- Wood is heavily consumed in the early game — prioritize Sawmill upgrades
- Coal is consumed during Furnace upgrades — stockpile before upgrade day
- Research Logging and Mining in Economy tree
- Gather wood and coal tiles during downtime
- Iron Mine unlocks at Furnace 5 — build and upgrade it immediately
- Steel Foundry unlocks later and is your most important mid-game building
- Steel can only be produced (not gathered), making foundry upgrades essential
- Alliance territories with steel bonuses are extremely valuable
- Research Advanced Metallurgy as soon as it's available
- Storehouse protects a set amount of each resource from raids — upgrade it
- Resources above your protection cap can be looted by attackers
- Spend excess resources quickly — don't hoard above your cap when shield is down
- Use a Peace Shield before logging off if you have excess resources
- Alliance protection radius reduces incoming attacks on members
- Transferring excess to alliance members before going offline is an advanced tactic
Gathering Efficiency Tips
- Use Gathering Gear — a full gathering set can increase yield by 40–80%
- Stack Gathering Heroes — Natalia and similar heroes boost gathering speed and capacity
- Higher-level tiles give more resources but take longer to fully drain
- Alliance tiles near your base refresh faster and are safer from enemy interference
- Elite tiles (glowing) give bonus resources — prioritize them when visible
- Gathering buffs from items stack with hero and gear bonuses — use them during big sessions
Base Building
Every building in your base serves a purpose. Understanding upgrade priority and the Furnace gating system prevents costly mistakes.

Optimal Upgrade Order
- 1Furnace upgrade prerequisites: Before upgrading your Furnace, complete ALL required buildings at their needed levels. Check the Furnace upgrade screen to see what's needed.
- 2Research Center first among economy buildings: More research = faster everything. Always keep research running and prioritize Research Center upgrades.
- 3Infirmary parity: Your Infirmary capacity should always exceed your march size. Overflow troops go to the Enlistment Office (F11+) as a secondary buffer — but beyond both, losses are permanent. Keep both at capacity.
- 4All three troop buildings equally: Don't max one troop building at the expense of others. Balanced training capacity is more efficient than a lopsided army.
- 5Hero Gear early (F15): Crafting even basic hero gear provides significant bonuses. Unlock the Hero Gear system at Furnace 15 and start crafting immediately.
- 6Storehouse at cap: Resource protection from your Storehouse should always cover your current stockpile. A full storehouse losing resources to raids is pure waste.

- 1Tool Enhancement (Growth) — Do this first. Every future research is cheaper from this point forward.
- 2Tooling Up (Growth) — Construction speed compounds across hundreds of future upgrades.
- 3Training Capacity + March Size (Growth) — Bigger armies, bigger marches, immediately.
- 4Gathering Speed (Economy) — Every march you send immediately benefits. Do early.
- 5Food Production (Economy) — Prevents food crisis as early troops are trained.
- 6T6 Troop Unlock (Battle) — Your first major battle-tree investment; Heroic troops are a real power spike.
- 7Primary Troop ATK/DEF/HP (Battle) — Max your main troop type's combat stats in parallel with tier unlocks.
- 8Iron/Steel Production (Economy) — Crucial as mid-game costs rise sharply.
- 9T7 → T8 Unlock (Battle) — Continue pushing troop tiers as your camp level rises.
- 10T9 Unlock (Battle) — The defining end-game milestone. Expensive but transforms your power permanently.
| Stage | Furnace | Focus | Must-Unlock Nodes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early | F1–10 | Growth Tree ~80% | Tool Enhancement (I–V) first — reduces all future research time. Then Tooling Up (I–V) for construction speed. Then Training Capacity + March Size. Begin Gathering Speed (Economy) once Growth basics are done. Unlock all Battle nodes to Level 1 to "lay groundwork" but don't invest deeply. |
| Mid | F11–20 | Growth finish + Battle begins | Finish maxing Tool Enhancement & Tooling Up if incomplete. Then Formation Expansion (march size — one of the highest-impact mid-game actions). Begin Battle tree in earnest: Infantry/Marksman/Lancer ATK nodes for your primary troop type. Unlock T6 Troops (Camp 16) and T7 (Camp 19) as Furnace gating allows. |
| Late | F21–30 | Battle Tree ~60% | Deep Battle tree investment: all three troop types' ATK, HP, and Defense nodes. T8 Unlock (Camp 22) and T9 Unlock (Camp 26) are the priority milestones. Keep Economy gathering nodes paced to resource needs. Furnace 25 brings T9 + Chief Gear Charms — plan Research Center to meet Furnace 25 prerequisites. |
| FC Era | F30+ | War Academy tree | Once Furnace reaches FC5, the War Academy unlocks — a separate military research building with its own three Helios troop branches (one per troop type). Focus one Helios type at a time (Infantry first). Each branch requires ~13,400 Fire Crystal Shards and ~271 days raw research time. The War Academy's "Ardent tree" delivers the largest combat stat increases in the game. |
Gear Systems
There are two distinct gear systems in Whiteout Survival: Hero Gear — four crafted slots (Headgear, Gloves, Belt, Boots) that boost your Chief's combat stats and the escort troops they lead — and Chief Enhancement Gear — a separate 6-piece system (unlocked at Furnace 22) that provides permanent ATK/DEF bonuses to all three troop types across every march. Both systems are important; they are upgraded and used independently.
Hero Gear
Hero Gear is a four-slot system (Headgear, Gloves, Belt, Boots) equipped on your Chief. It primarily boosts Hero ATK, Hero DEF, Hero HP, escort troop ATK, escort troop DEF, and troop Lethality — these are combat-oriented stats. Upgrade and equip the highest quality version you can craft. Hero Gear does not directly boost gathering speed or construction speed; those come from hero skills and the research tree.
Equip Hero Gear before launching attacks or joining defense. The four slots provide stacking bonuses to your hero's combat effectiveness and the escort troops they lead.
Gem Enchantments
Socketing gems into Hero Gear slots provides additional stat bonuses. Priorities:
- Hero Gear (combat use): ATK gems for your primary troop type first, then HP gems for survivability
- Higher-quality gems have massive stat jumps — save enhanced gems for Hero Gear only, not Chief Enhancement Gear
- Focus gem upgrades on Headgear and Boots first (primary ATK/Lethality slots)
Chief Enhancement Gear — Upgrade Priority
When you're on a new server with limited materials, upgrade your Chief Gear in this order. The logic is simple: Infantry are your frontline tanks — if they collapse, your entire army crumbles instantly.
| Priority | Troop Type | Gear Slots | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st — Infantry | Infantry | Coat (Chest) + Pants (Legs) | Front-row tanks absorb all incoming damage first. A dead frontline means your Marksmen and Lancers are exposed instantly — this is the highest-leverage upgrade you can make. |
| 2nd — Marksman | Marksman | Ring + Cudgel | Your primary damage dealers. Once Infantry can survive, you need Marksmen to deal enough damage to prevent the fight from dragging on. Ring and Cudgel carry the bulk of their offensive stats. |
| 3rd — Lancer | Lancer | Hat + Watch | Positioned in the middle, Lancers take damage last while Infantry are still alive. Their gear matters but offers the lowest marginal return early on — come back to these once Infantry and Marksman slots are solid. |
Chief Gear Enhancement — How It Works
Enhancement is the process of upgrading your Chief Gear through a series of color quality tiers. Each tier is a meaningful power jump — and each tier requires different (and progressively rarer) materials.
| Tier | Color | Sub-tiers | New Material Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | Green | Base only | Hardened Alloy + Polishing Solution |
| Rare | Blue | Base only | Hardened Alloy + Polishing Solution + Design Plan |
| Epic | Purple | T1, T2 | Hardened Alloy + Polishing Solution + Design Plan |
| Mythic | Gold | T1, T2 | Hardened Alloy + Polishing Solution + Design Plan |
| Legendary | Red | T1, T2, T3 | Hardened Alloy + Polishing Solution + Design Plan + Lunar Amber |
Where to Get Enhancement Materials
Polar Terror rallies (Level 3+), Beast hunting (Level 22+ beasts), Crazy Joe event, Frostfire Mine event, Alliance Championship Shop. The most accessible of the four materials — you'll rarely be hard-blocked here.
Crazy Joe event, Frostfire Mine, Alliance Championship Shop (100 Championship Badges per unit — far more expensive than Hardened Alloy). This is your real constraint from Blue to Gold tier. Prioritize the Championship Shop and never miss Crazy Joe.
Crazy Joe event, Frostfire Mine, Alliance Championship Shop, Foundry Shop, Canyon Shop, Power Region Shop, Polar Terror rallies, Beast hunting (Level 22+). Broadly available across multiple systems — farm passively while progressing normally.
Enhancement Material Exchange (convert 10 Design Plans → 1 Lunar Amber once exchange is unlocked), special events, packs. The hard wall for F2P players at Legendary tier. Stockpile Design Plans well before you reach Red quality so you can convert immediately.
Chief Charm Enhancement
Charms unlock at Furnace 25 and use an entirely separate enhancement system from gear — different materials, different levels, different sources. Each charm type has 16 enhancement levels. The same Infantry-first priority applies.
| Levels | Materials Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 – 11 | Charm Design + Charm Guide | Standard progression — farm Frostfire Mine and Castle Battle consistently |
| 12 – 16 | Charm Design + Charm Guide + Jewel Secrets | Jewel Secrets are the scarce gating material for the final 5 levels — stockpile before pushing here |
Charm Material Sources
Frostfire Mine event, Castle Battle, general events, alliance activities, Foundry Shop, Power Region Shop, Canyon Shop. Available across enough systems that it's rarely the bottleneck.
Frostfire Mine, Castle Battle, events, Tundra Trading Station (Trade Vouchers), State of Power event shop (unlocks after Day 80), Giant Elk pet via Lighthouse Intel Missions. The Giant Elk is a reliable passive daily source — unlock it as soon as possible.
Frostfire Mine, Castle Battle, high-level events, special promotions. The rarest charm material — hoarding Jewel Secrets before reaching Level 12 is the correct play. The Charm Exchange (unlocks at Level 11) lets you convert 40 surplus materials into 1 Jewel Secret — expensive, only use it with large stockpiles.
Charm Priority Order
The green charm set boosts Infantry Lethality and Health. Upgrade these first — the same frontline logic applies. A tankier Infantry line means every other upgrade is worth more because your army survives longer.
The yellow charm set boosts Marksman Lethality and Health. Once your frontline is reinforced, shift here to maximize your damage output. Marksman Lethality is the single most impactful offensive stat in most battles.
The blue charm set boosts Lancer Lethality and Health. Lancers deal significant damage once they reach the fight — Keenness charms become high priority in mid/late game when you're trying to maximize total troop output.
Stat Priorities by Troop Type
When choosing which stats to invest in through research, hero skills, and gear gems, follow these priorities per troop type. The key to understanding all three: Lethality outranks raw Attack for damage dealers because it reduces the effective HP threshold you need to punch through — it's a damage multiplier, not just an additive bonus.
| Troop Type | Stat Priority | Role | Why this order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infantry | HP → Defense → Attack | Frontline Tank | Infantry absorb damage — they need to stay alive, not kill fast. HP is the primary survivability pool; Defense reduces each hit before it touches HP (think of it as armor). Attack is last because dead Infantry kill nobody — survival comes first. |
| Marksman | Lethality → Attack → Defense | Ranged Damage Dealer | Marksmen deal the most raw damage but are exposed if Infantry fall. Lethality increases how efficiently they cut through enemy HP pools — more valuable than stacking base Attack. Defense is tertiary since Marksmen should be protected by the frontline. |
| Lancer | Lethality → Attack → Defense | Mid-Row Damage Dealer | Lancers sit in the middle and take damage last while Infantry survive. Because they're relatively safe, invest offensively — Lethality first for the same penetration reason as Marksmen. Defense is low priority since the frontline handles damage mitigation for them. |
New Server Priority Roadmap
- 1Craft Gathering Gear first. More resources per march = faster Furnace levels and building upgrades. This is your biggest early multiplier.
- 2Craft Construction + Research Gear. Swap on before every build/research start. The cumulative time saved over hundreds of upgrades is enormous.
- 3Upgrade Infantry Gear to blue quality. Once your alliance starts doing PvP content (Fortress Battles, Alliance Showdown), your frontline needs to hold. Infantry Coat and Pants to blue before anything else in combat gear.
- 4Upgrade Marksman Gear to match. Ring and Cudgel to blue. Your alliance needs damage output — Marksman gear is where that comes from.
- 5Start Protection Charms (Infantry), then Vision Charms (Marksman). Charm materials are scarce early. Don't split them across all three charm sets — focus Infantry first, then Marksman.
- 6Lancer Gear and Keenness Charms come last. They matter in mid-game PvP but the incremental gains are lower than Infantry/Marksman upgrades at the same material cost early on.
Chief Talent Tree
The Chief Talent Tree is a separate progression system from gear and charms. Each time your Chief levels up, you earn Talent Points that you invest into one of two trees — War or Economy. Points are limited, so the tree you specialize in defines your playstyle.
Boosts combat performance: troop ATK, DEF, HP, march capacity, and rally bonuses. War tree investment compounds with your gear and charm upgrades — the primary tree for players focused on PvP, Alliance Wars, and Fortress Battles. Prioritize this once your base is self-sustaining.
Boosts construction speed, research speed, resource production, and gathering efficiency. Early-game players benefit most here — faster building and research compounds into faster Furnace levels. Shift toward the War tree once you hit Furnace 15–20 and combat becomes your bottleneck.
Gear Advisor

Everything runs in your browser: screenshots never leave your device, and there's no account or API key required.
🛡️ Chief Gear Overview (optional — for context only, doesn't affect recommendations)
Troop System
Whiteout Survival uses a classic rock-paper-scissors troop system. Understanding it is the difference between crushing victories and devastating losses.
The Combat Triangle
Troop Tiers
| Tier | Camp Level | Name | Resource Cost | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | 1 | Rookie | Minimal | Only garrison filler — never actively train |
| T2 | 4 | Trained | Very Low | Train until T3 is available |
| T3 | 7 | Senior | Low | First meaningful army — early-game core |
| T4 | 11 | Veteran | Medium | Solid mid-game power spike |
| T5 | 13 | Hardy | Medium | Unlocks promotion mechanic |
| T6 | 16 | Heroic | High | Target for mid-game armies |
| T7 | 19 | Brave | High | Strong late-game option |
| T8 | 22 | Elite | Very High | Serious power — prioritize research to unlock |
| T9 | 26 | Supreme | Extreme | End-game standard — huge milestone |
| T10 | 30 | Apex | Extreme | Near end-game; requires deep investment |
| FC1–10 | F30+ | Fire Crystal | Legendary | Post-Furnace-30 Age of Fire Crystal era |
| Helios | War Academy | Helios | Legendary | Final tier — unlocked via War Academy research only |
Troop Composition Strategy
Equal parts Infantry, Lancers, and Marksmen. You lose less against any single troop type. Best for general play, Bear Traps, and unknown enemies.
High infantry count paired with strong infantry heroes. Excellent for defending against Lancer-heavy attackers (Infantry beats Lancer). Common in rally defense strategies.
High Marksman count destroys Infantry-heavy armies (Marksman beats Infantry). Use when you have scouted your enemy and know their composition. High-risk, high-reward.
Lancers have high march speed and strong Marksman counters (Lancer beats Marksman). Good for quick strikes, zeroing farms, and attacking Marksman-heavy players.
Optimal Compositions by Activity
The default 33/33/33 balanced split the game suggests is a starting point — not the optimal choice. Adjust your march composition based on what you're doing. The 10% counter bonus is decisive in close fights; large stat gaps (150%+) override composition entirely.
| Activity | Infantry | Lancer | Marksman | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polar Terror (PvE) | 20% | 20% | 60% | Marksmen deal the highest damage to stationary PvE targets; Infantry/Lancer absorb hits so Marksmen survive the full rally |
| Fortress Battles / Alliance Championship | 50% | 20% | 30% | Infantry anchor the frontline while Marksmen counter the Infantry-heavy garrisons typical of enemy defenses (Marksman beats Infantry). Confirmed 50/20/30 Infantry/Lancer/Marksman by multiple sources |
| SVS / Rally Attack | 50% | 20% | 30% | Same as Fortress — Marksmen counter the Infantry-heavy defenses typical in SVS garrisons. Increase Marksman share further if scouting confirms a heavy Infantry defense |
| SVS Defense (Sunfire Castle garrison) | 60% | 40% | 0% | Remove all Marksmen from static garrisons — they have the lowest defense stats of the three types and die first against any incoming rally regardless of composition, becoming liabilities when unable to reposition |
| Unknown / General PvP | 33% | 33% | 33% | When you can't scout the enemy composition, balanced gives no exploitable weakness |
Army Building Priorities
- Match your hero setup: If your best combat heroes boost Infantry, build an infantry-heavy army
- Never train T1/T2 when T3+ is available — the resource/power ratio is terrible
- Always train in full queues: Start large batches before logging off
- Keep a healing reserve: Don't spend all healing speedups — you may need them after a big battle
- Balance training across all three types: Even if you favor one type, don't completely neglect others
- T1/T2 as hospital fillers only: Low-tier troops absorb Infirmary capacity and clog your healing queue — retrain them to current-tier whenever resources allow
Hero Guide
Heroes are the greatest multiplier on your power. The right heroes leveled to the right skills determine whether you win or lose every battle, event, and gathering session.
The Generation System — How It Works
Whiteout Survival releases heroes in numbered Generations (currently Gen 1–16). Understanding this system is essential to investing your XP, medals, and materials wisely.
Each generation arrives roughly every 5–6 Lucky Wheel cycles (~80 days). When a new gen drops, your state gains access to those heroes through the Lucky Wheel and other unlock sources.
Newer generation heroes almost always have better base stats and skill kits than older ones. A typical hero stays competitively viable for roughly 3–4 generations before being outclassed.
New states start at Gen 1. The heroes available to you depend on your server's age. Older states have access to all current generations. Young states work up from Gen 1 naturally.
The Lucky Wheel is the primary source for most heroes, especially F2P ones. Certain heroes — Mia, Bradley, Gatot, Blanchette, Eleonora — are all Lucky Wheel heroes and represent the strongest F2P investment path.
Hero Roster by Generation
| Gen | Notable Heroes | F2P Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gen 1 (Day 0) | Jeronimo, Zinman, Jasser, Seo-yoon, Natalia, Molly, Bahiti, Patrick, Jessie, Sergey, Cloris, Gina, Lumak Bokan, Charlie, Eugene, Ling Xue, Smith | Tavern / Starter | Jeronimo (Mythic Infantry) & Zinman (Mythic Marksman) lead Gen 1. Jasser & Seo-yoon both give all-troop rally ATK buffs. Lumak Bokan & Ling Xue (SR Lancer), Charlie (R Lancer), Eugene & Smith (R Infantry) are starter filler — useful early but replaced as you unlock higher-rarity heroes. |
| Gen 2 (Day 40) | Flint, Philly, Alonso | Tavern / Wheel | Flint (Mythic Infantry, combat focus). Philly (Legendary Lancer, healer — strong in prolonged rallies). Alonso (Mythic Marksman, AoE damage + healing — remains a mid-game formation staple). |
| Gen 3 (Day 120) | Logan, Mia, Greg | Lucky Wheel | Mia is confirmed F2P Lucky Wheel backbone — prioritize her medals early |
| Gen 4 (Day 200) | Ahmose | — | Transitional generation |
| Gen 5 (Day 280) | Hector | Lucky Wheel | Hector is a key F2P combat hero; strong mid-game investment |
| Gen 6 (Day 360) | Renee | Lucky Wheel | Renee (Mythic Lancer) — arrives at Gen 6 as a strong Lancer combat option |
| Gen 7 (Day 440) | Bradley | Lucky Wheel | F2P backbone hero; excellent combat viability through mid-game |
| Gen 8 (Day 520) | Gatot | Lucky Wheel | Strong Infantry hero; part of the core F2P combat lineup |
| Gen 9 | Magnus | — | S Infantry powerhouse with taunt-based crowd control and scaling % abilities |
| Gen 10 | Blanchette, Freya, Gregory | Blanchette: Lucky Wheel | Blanchette is the best F2P Marksman in the game; Freya top-tier Lancer |
| Gen 11 | Eleonora | Lucky Wheel | Best Infantry hero available; viable into Gen 13+ meta |
| Gen 12–16 | Newest heroes | Varies | Current cutting-edge meta; check community tier lists for latest rankings |
Hero Tier List
Key Heroes by Role
Hero Development System
- Hero XP is obtained from Hero EXP Books (earned from events and dispatching)
- Focus XP on 2–3 heroes only — spreading XP thin wastes months of progress
- Level unlocks new skill tiers — skills at higher levels give non-linear jumps in power
- Cloris (gathering) should be leveled early to accelerate resource collection; combat heroes become the priority once you reach Furnace 15+
- Stars are raised using Hero Fragments/Medals — earned from the Hero Tavern and events
- Each star significantly boosts all hero stats — more important than levels in late game
- Don't scatter medals across many heroes — stack on your core 3–4 heroes first
- The Hero Tavern daily spin is your best free source of new hero medals
- Alliance Store often sells rare hero medals — check it daily
Heroes have two skill categories. Arena/Active Skills are used in the visual 1-on-1 Arena mode. Expedition Skills (the three icons in the right column on each hero) are what actually buff your troops in PvP marches, rallies, and beast hunts. When building PvP heroes, only Expedition Skills matter.
Rally Leader vs. Rally Joiner — Completely Different Mechanics
- Rally Leader (you start the rally): All 3 of each hero's expedition skills apply across all 3 of your deployed heroes — up to 9 total skill buffs on the rally. Pick your strongest all-round offensive heroes here. You need one Infantry, one Marksman, one Lancer hero for full troop-type coverage.
- Rally Joiner (you join someone else's rally): Only your Slot 1 hero's first expedition skill contributes — nothing else. Your Slot 2 and 3 heroes are irrelevant. Your Slot 1 hero's Skills 2 and 3 are irrelevant. Only one skill matters per joiner. This is the most misunderstood mechanic in the game.
- Solo March (attacking alone): All expedition skills from all 5 deployed heroes contribute. More flexibility in composition — run healer or support heroes alongside damage dealers.
Skill Buff Type Hierarchy
- "Damage Dealt" buffs — the strongest type. Multiplies ALL damage sources: troop auto-attacks, hero skill procs, pet abilities. Jessie ("Stand of Arms") and Jasser ("Tactical Genius") use this wording. Max these first.
- "Troop Attack" buffs — very good, applies to troop auto-attacks and scales troop-type-specific sources. Seo-yoon ("Rallying Beat"), Natalia ("Troop Attack"), Flint ("Burning Resolve") use this. Slightly narrower than "damage dealt."
- "Normal Attack Damage" buffs — the narrowest type. Only buffs auto-attacks, not skill procs or pets. Same percentage = less total value than the above two.
Diminishing Returns
All buff types stack additively — not multiplicatively. If you already have +200% troop attack from research, buildings, and gear, another +25% from a hero adds only ~8% real damage gain. Once attack is high, pivot investments to: Lethality (a separate multiplier for critical/penetration damage), Damage Dealt (a separate buff pool), and skills that debuff the enemy (Mia's curse increases damage taken by enemies — this is a separate multiplicative layer that doesn't diminish).
Investment Priority (descending)
- Jessie "Stand of Arms" → Jasser "Tactical Genius" (best joiner skills, permanent multi-gen value)
- Your Gen 1–2 rally leaders: Natalia "Troop Attack" + Flint "Burning Resolve" + Molly Exp. Skill 1
- Mia "Bad Luck Streak" + "Vision of Truth" Fate Crystal (mandatory at Gen 3, game-changing)
- Alonso "Harpoon Enhancement" Lethality buff (adds a different buff type — high marginal value)
- Reina "Fiery Invasion" Rally Lethality (only active in rallies but permanent value there)
The Drill Camp (unlocks at Furnace 13) lets you level up heroes for free — no XP books required. You load 5 instructor heroes into the camp; any hero you train there will automatically level up to match the lowest level among those 5 instructors.
- Understand the cap: the lowest-level instructor sets the ceiling for every hero you train. Be mindful of which heroes you slot in — a low-level instructor limits what you can train up to.
- Use it to bring secondary heroes up to baseline without spending a single XP book. This is especially valuable for filling out your rally and gathering lineups without touching your book stockpile.
- Load long-term viable heroes as your instructors — focus on heroes you're actually investing in, not placeholders you plan to replace.
- Don't neglect it. Passive free leveling compounds over time — an untended Drill Camp is free progress you're leaving on the table every day.
Hero Builds — Activity Presets
Save named hero presets for each role — swapping the wrong lineup into battle is one of the most common and costly mistakes in the game. Your combat formation, gathering lineup, and city assignments are completely independent.
Each resource has a specialist hero with a gathering expedition skill. Assign the matching hero as Slot 1 for each march type:
Cloris → Meat (food)
Eugene → Wood
Charlie → Coal
Smith → Iron
Max their Expedition Skill 1 (gathering speed boost) first. These are low-rarity heroes — do not invest Skill Manuals beyond their gathering skill.
Gina as rally leader: her Expedition skill reduces stamina cost for rally leadership by up to 20% (25 → ~20 stamina). No other hero does this. She's specifically valuable as a beast rally leader to extend your daily stamina.
Jessie as joiner (Slot 1): "Stand of Arms" +25% damage dealt applies identically in PvE. Max her expedition skill — it contributes more per skill manual than almost any other investment at this stage.
Use 60% Marksmen / 20% Infantry / 20% Lancer composition for maximum damage against stationary bosses.
Heroes assigned to Chief Specialty slots provide passive city bonuses 24/7 without being deployed.
Construction slots: Zinman (primary), Gina (secondary)
Research slots: Jasser (secondary "Enlightened Warfare" research speed passive), Flint (if not in combat preset)
Keep a saved "development" preset. Swap to combat before any march. Most new players lose stats by forgetting to switch.
PvP Lineups by Generation
Rally leaders use all 3 heroes' full expedition skill sets (3 skills each = 9 total buffs). Rally joiners only contribute their Slot 1 hero's first expedition skill. Build two separate hero groups: your leading team and your joining team. They may share heroes in Slot 1 vs. dedicated joiner setups.
Each stage below lists the full F2P and P2P troop lineup (Infantry/Marksman/Lancer) plus a 🎯 Main Focus call-out — the single hero to pour your limited Skill Manuals and medals into first if you can only fully invest in one.
| Stage | When | F2P Rally Leader (3 heroes) | F2P Joiner (Slot 1) | P2P Rally Leader (3 heroes) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gen 1 | Day 0–120 | Infantry: Natalia Marksman: Seo-yoon or Bahiti Lancer: Molly 🎯 Main Focus: Jessie — her joiner skill is multiplicative across every rally you join, the highest ROI of any Gen 1 investment |
Jessie (Stand of Arms +25% DMG Dealt) — max her Exp. Skill 1 first above everything else | Infantry: Jeronimo (+25% DMG Dealt + +25% ATK stacked — effectively doubling early offensive output vs. F2P Natalia) Marksman: Seo-yoon or Bahiti Lancer: Molly 🎯 Main Focus: Jeronimo — his passive buffs all troops even when benched, an immediate stat lead no other Gen 1 hero matches |
| Gen 1–2 | Day 40–120 | Infantry: Flint (replaces Natalia) Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Molly 🎯 Main Focus: Flint — "Burning Resolve" is the best F2P infantry leader skill through Gen 4 |
Jessie (Stand of Arms) — still best F2P joiner | Infantry: Jeronimo (retained — he outperforms Flint through Gen 4 and shouldn't be benched) Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Molly 🎯 Main Focus: Jeronimo — keep investing here, not Flint. Flint is only the F2P infantry upgrade for players without Jeronimo |
| Gen 3 | Day 120+ | Infantry: Flint or Natalia Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Mia (mandatory upgrade — replaces Molly as Lancer leader) 🎯 Main Focus: Mia — "Vision of Truth" makes her curse mechanic near-guaranteed, the biggest single power spike available to F2P at this stage |
Jessie — "Stand of Arms" still holds. Alternatively Jasser if he's more starred. | Infantry: Jeronimo Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Mia (Fate Crystal "Vision of Truth" compounds P2P stat advantages) 🎯 Main Focus: Mia — mandatory for F2P and P2P alike; spending just maxes her Fate Crystal faster, it doesn't replace her |
| Gen 4 | Day 200+ | Infantry: Flint Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Reina (upgrades Mia for rally leadership — her "Fiery Invasion" gives +15% Rally Lethality) 🎯 Main Focus: Reina — the largest rally-leader power jump since Mia |
Jessie or Jasser | Infantry: Jeronimo Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Reina ("Swift Jive" 20% dodge + "Assassin's Instinct" +30% normal attack damage) 🎯 Main Focus: Reina — her dodge+damage kit scales proportionally faster with P2P investment speed than your existing two heroes |
| Gen 5+ | Day 280+ | Infantry: Hector (major upgrade, replaces Flint) Marksman: Alonso (retained) Lancer: Reina or Mia 🎯 Main Focus: Hector — your tank/leader upgrade; deeper Infantry HP/ATK scaling than Flint |
Jessie (F2P) — still one of the best joiners in the game even at Gen 8+ | Infantry: Jeronimo (retained) or Hector Marksman: Alonso Lancer: Reina 🎯 Main Focus: Hector — even P2P Jeronimo holders should start leveling him now since his HP/ATK scaling synergizes with Jeronimo's passive lethality boost |
| Gen 8–10 F2P Peak | Day 520+ | Infantry: Hector Marksman: Blanchette (S+ — +Healing Block is unique) Lancer: Reina 🎯 Main Focus: Blanchette — S+ tier, the single biggest F2P power spike in the game |
Jessie (still) or Blanchette if slot 1 | Infantry: Jeronimo Marksman: Blanchette Lancer: Freya (Gen 10 Lancer, cross-class buff of +15% DMG to Infantry/Marksman while being Lancer = unique synergy) 🎯 Main Focus: Freya — her cross-class synergy is unlocked only at this stage and benefits the whole lineup, not just herself |
| Gen 11+ F2P | Day 660+ | Infantry: Eleonora (best Infantry in game — damage reflect shield) Marksman: Blanchette Lancer: Reina or Mia 🎯 Main Focus: Eleonora — F2P-accessible and closes the gap with P2P Jeronimo lineups |
Jessie — "Stand of Arms" is still a top-5 joiner skill even at this stage | Infantry: Eleonora or Jeronimo Marksman: Blanchette Lancer: Freya 🎯 Main Focus: Eleonora — F2P and P2P converge here since Eleonora and Blanchette are both Lucky Wheel heroes; spend just accelerates skill leveling rather than buying an exclusive hero |
1. Jessie — max Expedition Skill 1 immediately
2. Natalia — max all expedition skills (Gen 1 rally leader)
3. Molly — max Expedition Skill 1 (damage dealt)
4. Flint (Gen 2) — max "Burning Resolve" first
5. Alonso (Gen 2) — "Harpoon Enhancement" (Lethality)
6. Mia (Gen 3) — treat as joint #1 priority when unlocked
7. Mia "Vision of Truth" Fate Crystal — eliminates RNG on her proc skills
8. Hector (Gen 5) → Gatot (Gen 8) → Blanchette (Gen 10) → Eleonora (Gen 11)
1. Jeronimo — highest single-hero impact in the game; "Battle Manifesto" + "Swordmentor" stack for massive early lead; his passive lethality+health talent buffs all troops even when benched
2. Mia (same as F2P — mandatory)
3. Reina (Gen 4 Lancer, "Fiery Invasion" is rally-specific lethality)
4. Freya (Gen 10 Lancer, unique cross-class buff)
5. Eleonora (Gen 11 Infantry) — available F2P via Lucky Wheel, but maxing faster via spend has major impact
Jessie remains useful even for P2P players — she's your best free joiner regardless of spending level.
Pet System
Pets provide powerful passive stat bonuses and daily active skills that compound across every aspect of the game — combat, gathering, base building, and charm progression. The system unlocks at Furnace 18 when your server reaches Day 55 via the Beast Cage building. Day 55 is the only hard server gate — after that the chain is purely level-gated. A well-resourced player can chain from Cave Hyena all the way to Titan Roc within the first days of Day 55 if they have Pet Food stockpiled. When the Beast Cage opens, a 7-day Beast Whisperer Event fires with starter Pet Food and Taming Manuals — don't miss it.

Pet Tier List
How Pet Leveling Works
Feed your pet Pet Food to raise its level. Each level increases passive stat bonuses and active skill power. Sources: Pet Adventures (main farm), Giant Tapir skill (+500 daily), events, Alliance gifts. Pet Food is the bottleneck for all progression — treat it like a premium currency.
At every 10-level milestone you must complete an Advancement to continue. Level 10 unlocks the Active Skill (most important milestone). Advancements require: Taming Manuals (all advancements), Energizing Potions (Level 30+), Strengthening Serums (Level 50+). Farm all three via Pet Adventures.
Inside the Beast Cage, tap Adventure to dispatch your pet. Costs 10 Chief Stamina, takes 4 hours, yields Pet Food + Taming Manuals + chance of Potions/Serums. There's a 10% chance of an Ally Treasure that alliance members can claim for free. Run these every 4 hours — never leave this idle.
Wild Marks improve a pet's passive stat quality: None → Green → Blue (Common Wild Marks), Blue → Purple → Gold (Advanced Wild Marks). Save Advanced Wild Marks exclusively for SSR pets (Cave Lion, Iron Rhino, Saber-tooth Tiger). Never burn them on Rare or Common pets — Advanced Wild Marks are extremely scarce.
F2P Pet Strategy
- 1Rush Musk Ox to Level 15. This unlocks Giant Tapir — the single most impactful move you can make in the early pet system. Don't spread Pet Food thin before you hit this milestone.
- 2Activate Arctic Wolf daily. The 60 Stamina restore fuels Pet Adventures and Beast Hunts. An active player can run significantly more Adventures per day with this — it compounds across weeks.
- 3Activate Musk Ox on your longest gathering run. The instant gather-complete saves hours per week. Use it on a high-tier resource tile for maximum yield.
- 4Level Giant Tapir as your top priority. The higher its level, the more Pet Food it generates and the faster every other pet levels up.
- 5Don't over-invest in Cave Hyena. Level it to 15 for the chain, use the Construction Speed buff daily — but every extra unit of Pet Food beyond Lv 15 is wasted on a 5-minute buff once per day. Move resources to Giant Tapir and then combat pets.
- 6Run Pet Adventures every 4 hours. This is your only consistent source of Taming Manuals and Energizing Potions. Missing sessions is the most common pet mistake — set a reminder if needed.
- 7Save Advanced Wild Marks. Don't touch them until you have an SSR pet (Cave Lion or later). Refine SSR pets toward Lethality + Health + Attack. Never waste them on early Rare pets.
- 8Iron Rhino is fully F2P — just time-gated. It unlocks naturally around Day 280 through the chain. No spending required. For alliance rally leaders, this is the most impactful pet in the game — the +150,000 Rally Capacity transforms who you can bring into an attack.
Combat Strategy
Winning battles in Whiteout Survival requires more than a big army. Scouting, formation, hero selection, and timing are all decisive factors.
Before Every Attack
- 1Scout first. Always send a scout before a major attack. Know your enemy's troop count, composition, and trap setup before committing troops.
- 2Check their hospital capacity. If their hospital exceeds your expected kill count, your attack will mostly just wound troops that get healed for free. Target enemies with low hospital caps.
- 3Equip Combat Gear. Swap your Chief Gear to the combat set before launching the attack. This is often forgotten and costs significant battle power.
- 4Set your battle lineup. Assign the correct combat heroes in your march lineup — not your development or gathering heroes.
- 5Calculate your own hospital cap. Don't send more troops than your hospital can absorb in a loss scenario. Permanent troop loss is the most damaging outcome.
Attack Types
Your single march attacking one target. Best for farming weak players, hitting Polar Terror, or testing enemy strength. Limited by your solo march cap.
Multiple alliance members join a single march led by your R4/R5. Massive combined power — the only way to take down max-level Polar Terror or strong players. Requires Embassy upgrades.
Park troops inside an alliance member's city to reinforce their defense. Useful during SVS territory fights and when allies are being attacked.
Defensive Strategies
- Peace Shields: Use 8h shields every night if you have excess resources or a fragile army
- Alliance Hive: Stay inside your alliance's territory — neighbors can reinforce and retaliate instantly
- Trap Buildings: Wall traps add silent losses to any attacker — upgrade your Wall and fill it with traps
- Relocation: If repeatedly targeted, use a teleport item to move away or deeper into alliance territory
- Resource Burn: If attacked, spend all resources on training or upgrades immediately to reduce loot value
Alliance Guide
Your alliance is the single most important factor in your progression speed. A good alliance means faster builds, more events, and protection from bullies.
What a Great Alliance Provides
Every time an alliance member helps your build or research, it reduces the timer. A 50-member alliance can cut hours off every upgrade — this alone is worth finding a good alliance.
Alliance-wide tech unlocks permanent bonuses for all members — troop stats, gathering speed, construction buffs. Every contribution compounds.
Enemies attacking you risk retaliation from your entire alliance. Park in the hive and bullies move on to easier targets.
Exclusive items sold for Alliance Credits, including rare hero medals, speedups, and resource packs not available anywhere else.
Organized PvP events where your alliance competes against another. Best source of rare equipment materials and premium speedups.
Your entire state competes against another. Only coordinated alliances can contribute meaningfully — individual power means nothing without teamwork.
How to Choose the Right Alliance
| Criteria | What to Look For | Red Flags |
|---|---|---|
| Activity Level | Members online during your playtime | Ghost members, no help requests answered |
| Alliance Power | Top 5 in your state if possible | Bottom 50% — limited protection |
| Leadership | R5 communicates clearly, organizes events | Silent R5, no event coordination |
| Language | Majority speaks your language | All chat in a language you don't understand |
| Territory | Large connected territory, Sunfire Castle access in SVS | Scattered plots, no strategic territory |
| Alliance Rank Rules | Clear expectations for participation | No rules — chaotic, no coordination in war |
Alliance War (AW) Tips
- Coordinate attack waves — simultaneous attacks overwhelm the enemy's reinforcement capacity
- Assign roles: Some members defend, some attack, some gather AW resources
- Shield wisely: Use shields to protect your base between attack waves if you're targeted
- Contribute to AW objectives: Capturing special tiles grants alliance-wide bonuses
- Rally participation: Join every rally your R4/R5 calls — rally power multiplies your individual strength
- Save speedups for AW push: Use construction/research speedups right before AW to spike your power score
Polar Terror
Polar Terror is the world boss event — a massive creature that spawns on the world map and requires alliance coordination to defeat. It's one of the best sources of premium rewards in the game.
Polar Terror spawns on a regular schedule visible in the event tab. When it appears, your entire alliance should rally immediately — kills are time-limited.
Polar Terror comes in multiple levels (1–5+). Higher levels give better rewards but require more alliance power. Work up from lower levels as you grow.
Kills drop premium speedups, advanced gear materials, hero medals, and rare Alliance War materials. The top-damage alliance in a kill gets bonus drops.
Polar Terror Strategy
- 1Always Rally, Never Solo. Solo attacks deal minimal damage and waste march time. Only join as part of an alliance rally unless it's a very low-level terror.
- 2Lead with your strongest march. Rally leaders should be your highest-power members with full combat gear and S-tier heroes equipped.
- 3Equip Combat Gear before joining. Every participant should swap to combat gear before joining a rally on Polar Terror.
- 4Coordinate attack timing. Multiple simultaneous rallies deal maximum damage. Don't start a new rally until the first lands.
- 5Polar Terror does NOT fight back (much). Unlike PvP, troop losses against Polar Terror are minimal — it's safe to send large marches.
- 6Claim rewards immediately. Rewards expire if not collected within the claim window. Set a notification to collect them.
Polar Terror Rewards Breakdown
| Terror Level | Key Rewards | Min. Power (Verified) |

| Level 1 | Basic speedups, food/wood packs | ~71,000 |
| Level 2 | Basic speedups, food/wood packs | ~1,123,000 |
| Level 3 | Research speedups, basic gear mats | ~5,480,000 |
| Level 4 | Advanced speedups, rare gear blueprints | ~37,800,000 |
| Level 5+ | Premium speedups, hero medals, rare mats | Not yet verified |

Bear Traps — Daily Solo Event
Glowing trap icons appear on the world map near alliance territory. Higher-level traps spawn further from your base. Tap to attack — no march prep required.
Traps scale from Level 1 (trivial) to Level 5+. Higher-level traps give dramatically better speedups and event points. Never waste your daily count on low-level traps.
Points accumulate into milestone reward tiers. Participating on every eligible day consistently unlocks the best milestone chests — don't miss your reset windows.
King of Icefield — 7-Day Bi-Weekly Event
King of Icefield runs for 7 consecutive days, one stage per day, each with a different focus theme. Complete daily missions to earn Medal of Honor (2 per day) and compete for state ranking rewards.
| Day | Theme | Best Activity | Daily Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | City Construction | Use construction speedups, start large upgrades | Fire Crystals |
| Day 2 | Hero Development | Level heroes, upgrade hero skills | Essence Stones |
| Day 3 | Basic Skills Upgrade | Upgrade gear, use Mithril & Essence Stones | Charm Designs |
| Day 4 | Combat Training | Train troops, use training speedups | Charm Guides |
| Day 5 | Basic Skills Upgrade | ⭐ HIGHEST VALUE — Mithril & Gear Essence Stones give massive points | Fire Crystals |
| Day 6 | Combat Training | Train troops, push troop tier unlocks | Chief Designs |
| Day 7 | Hero Development | Hero XP, medals, skill upgrades | Hero Shards |
- Medals first: Hit milestone points every day to secure all 14 Medals of Honor before chasing ranking positions
- Day 5 is the most valuable: Save Mithril and Hero Gear Essence Stones for Day 5 — they generate far more points than construction or troops
- Top 100 state ranking: Both daily stage ranking and total event ranking reward the top 100 chiefs per state — aim for consistent top performance
- Medal exchange: Medals can be redeemed for current season hero shards, island scrolls, and premium materials
Fortress Battles — Weekly Alliance PvP (Friday)
Every Friday, alliances across the state compete to capture and hold 16 structures — 12 Fortresses and 4 Strongholds. This is a seasonal 8-week cycle with cumulative alliance ranking rewards.
All 16 buildings are on the world map. Strongholds are worth 2x points vs Fortresses — always prioritize attacking and holding Strongholds over Fortresses.
Alliance leaders must register for specific structures before the battle window opens. Coordinate with your R4/R5 on which targets to register — don't overlap with allied alliances.
Solo attacks are ineffective on Fortresses. Rallies multiply your combined power and ensure more members earn participation rewards. Never attack a structure without rallying first.
Captured structures need active defense. Station troops via garrison and keep alliance members close. Structures change hands multiple times per event — losing and retaking is normal.
- Seasonal rankings: Points accumulated over the full 8-week season determine your alliance's final ranking and season rewards
- Hero selection matters: Use combat heroes with rally and occupation bonuses, not your development lineup
- Pick the right heroes for occupation: Some heroes provide garrison defense bonuses — check your lineup before stationing troops
- Coordinate with allied alliances: Non-aggression pacts between friendly alliances can split the 16 structures without costly internal fights
Frostfire Mine — Bi-Weekly 30-Minute Battle
Your objective is to gather Orichalcum by occupying Mine Veins scattered across the map. This is an individual competition — your personal Orichalcum total determines your rewards and ranking. Control the central Smelter as it provides the highest Orichalcum flow.
Outskirts contain low-level Veins — easy to capture early. The center houses high-level Veins and the Smelter, which generates the most Orichalcum per second and becomes fiercely contested.
Phase 1 (0–10 min): Capture nearby low-level Veins for quick points. Phase 2 (10–25 min): Push toward center Veins. Phase 3 (25–30 min): All-in on Smelter — controlling it gives the highest individual Orichalcum flow.
Split your alliance into groups — some hold outer Veins, others push the Smelter. Don't abandon outer Veins entirely or enemy alliances claim them unopposed.
Alliance Showdown — Monthly Elite Tournament
Two alliances are paired against each other across 6 stages over 6.5 days. Each stage has a different scoring focus. The alliance with the higher total stage score wins. The event awards 13 Victory Points total — you need 7 to win overall.
| Stage | Victory Points | Focus | Key Actions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | 1 VP | Activity / Construction | Use construction speedups, log daily quests |
| Stage 2 | 2 VP | Combat / Troops | Train troops, participate in joint attacks |
| Stage 3 | 2 VP | Research | Fire research speedups, prioritize Battle tree |
| Stage 4 | 2 VP | Alliance Activities | Help members, contribute collective research |
| Stage 5 | 2 VP | Mixed Power Push | Stack speedups, coordinated power spike |
| Stage 6 | 4 VP ⭐ | Final Battle (Combat) | All-out attack phase — this stage decides most matchups |
- Stage 6 is your highest-value push: At 4 VP, Stage 6 is worth double any earlier stage — save your best coordinated attacks for the final stage
- Assign stage roles: Identify members who are best at construction vs combat vs research and ensure they push hard on matching stages
- Communication is everything: Alliances that coordinate timing of speedup use win stages by margins. Uncoordinated alliances waste pushes
- Stage 6 is the decisive stage: If either alliance enters Stage 6 without 7 VP secured, Stage 6 (4 VP) will determine the winner — plan all combat resources around it
Alliance Mobilization — Monthly Power Push & League System
Alliance Mobilization is a bi-weekly event (every two weeks) where both individual and alliance-wide power gains are tracked. It's the best time to use stockpiled speedups for maximum point efficiency. The event drives a league system across 5 tiers (Rookie → Legendary) — the bottom 3 alliances are demoted and the top 3 are promoted each cycle.
- Save speedups for Mobilization: Construction, research, and training speedups used during this event generate bonus event points
- Fire Crystal spending: Using Fire Crystals and Mithril during Mobilization generates the highest point-per-resource ratio
- Alliance contributions compound: The event tracks total alliance power gain — encourage every member to push during the same window
- Rewards scale with alliance ranking: Top alliance rankings unlock exclusive resource packs, speedup bundles, and rare materials
- League promotion/relegation: Each Mobilization cycle, the top 3 alliances in each league tier are promoted to the next tier, and the bottom 3 are relegated. Fight to stay out of the bottom bracket
- Individual vs alliance track: Your personal power-gain rank earns individual milestone rewards independently of the alliance league result — always push even if your alliance is underperforming
Canyon Clash — Monthly Territory War
Canyon Clash is a monthly cross-state battle — three alliances from different states are matchmade in the Lost Canyon map. Alliances fight over strategic buildings for points. Battle day is Saturday (vote Mon–Tue, register Wed–Thu, matchmaking Friday, battle Saturday).
- Territory control = passive rewards: Holding canyon tiles generates ongoing resource and material income for the controlling alliance
- Multi-alliance coordination: Some states form coalitions to divide canyon territory without internal fighting — more efficient than three-way battles
- Combat gear required: All participants should swap to full combat gear before any attacks — canyon tiles are defended by strong garrisons
- Ranking rewards: Both alliance rank and individual contribution rank earn separate reward tiers — contribute even if your alliance can't win the top spot
Frostdragon Tyrant — Monthly Capital Control Battle
A 6-day monthly event where top alliances battle to capture and hold the Capital. The alliance that controls the Capital at the end earns the coveted Frostdragon Tyrant title, state-wide buffs, and exclusive Dragonmarks currency. Sign-up runs Monday–Tuesday; Dispatch phase Wednesday–Thursday; the decisive Battle is Sunday 12:00–18:00.
Four Spires surround the Capital, each granting +20% combat buffs to the controlling alliance. Capture all four Spires before pushing the Capital itself — the buff stacks are decisive in the final battle.
The winning alliance's R5 becomes Frostdragon Tyrant and earns a persistent title buff. All participating state members receive post-battle perks: +500% Healing Speed and −30% Healing Cost for the recovery window — use them immediately to refill your hospital for free.
Participation earns Dragonmarks currency redeemable in the Dragonmarks Shop for exclusive gear materials and hero fragments. After the battle, the Tyrant's Gift feast lets members earn up to 5 likes per day × 200 gems each — log in daily to collect.
Mon–Tue: Sign-up & preparation. Wed–Thu: Dispatch phase — position troops near target Spires. Sunday 12:00–18:00: Live battle window. Spend the downtime days maximizing troop HP and healing capacity.
- Spires before Capital: Never attack the Capital before controlling at least 3 of the 4 Spires — the +20% combat buff per Spire is too large to ignore
- Coordinate healing post-battle: The +500% healing speed window lasts only a short time — have your hospital full of wounded troops ready the moment the battle ends
- Dragonmarks are permanent currency: Don't rush spending them — check the Dragonmarks Shop rotation for high-value hero fragment options before buying
Crazy Joe — Alliance Defense Event
Crazy Joe is a bi-weekly PvE alliance defense event running on Tuesdays and Thursdays during SvS, KoI, or HoC weeks only — it does not run every Tuesday and Thursday. 20 waves of system-controlled bandits attack member cities and the Alliance HQ over ~40 minutes. Points are proportional to kills — eliminate 100% of a wave and earn maximum points. There are 21 difficulty levels; higher difficulty = better rewards.
Waves 1–9 and 11–19 target individual member cities. Waves 10 and 20 hit only the Alliance HQ — recall your troops and redirect them to the HQ before these waves, then redeploy afterward.
Elite Waves 7, 14, and 17 only target online players and award roughly double the points of standard waves. Being offline during these three waves is the single largest point loss possible.
Before wave 1: pair up with an alliance partner and send your Infantry (90%) + Lancers (10%) to reinforce their city while they reinforce yours. Both players earn full kill points in each other's cities. Leave only Marksmen and Heroes at home — Marksmen contribute almost no kills and shouldn't be sent out.
Do not heal or train troops during the event — troops returning home displace ally reinforcements and cut their kill counts.
Place your strongest defensive hero in Barricade Slot 1 before the event starts. That hero's Expedition Skills benefit all alliance troops reinforcing your city. Sergey is the top recommendation for Slot 1 (defensive Expedition Skills, damage reduction). Do not send your best hero out reinforcing allies if it leaves your barricade empty.
Personal Ranking (score vs. other state players): Polishing Solution + Hardened Alloy (Chief Gear upgrade materials).
Alliance Ranking (combined alliance score): same materials in smaller amounts.
Milestones: Alliance Tokens redeemable in the Alliance Store. Reward quality scales with your alliance's difficulty level.
Frostfire Mine — Solo PvP Mining Event
A 30-minute solo competitive event where every player — including alliance members — is your opponent. Gather as much Orichalcum as possible. Orichalcum is permanent currency used to craft Mythic and Elite Chief Gear. Multiple time slots available (UTC: 02:00, 05:00, 11:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, 21:00) — register and participate on the same day.
| Phase | Timing | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Skill Tree | Min 0–7 | Hunt Level 2 Patrols exclusively — 150 XP each, need ~36 to unlock full skill tree (5,400 XP total). Each also gives 1,500 Orichalcum. |
| Recall Trick | Min 7–23 | With L3 skill unlocked: enter a vein → earn 5,000 Orichalcum trigger → immediately recall → repeat on new vein every 60 seconds. |
| Outbursts | Min 8–10, 18–20 | Position near outburst zones by min 7 and min 17. Each outburst vein holds 4,000 Orichalcum gatherable in ~20 seconds. Activate L5 active skill to cover the full cluster. |
| Smelter | Min 23–30 | Highest-value target. Rank 1 = 100,000 bonus Orichalcum at battle end. Fiercely contested — if you can't win it, focus on patrol farming and outbursts instead. |
- Spread heroes across all march queues: One defeat puts every hero in that queue on a 5-minute cooldown simultaneously — never stack all heroes in a single march
- Recommended skill path (F2P): R1 (patrol bonus) → R2 (march speed) → L3 (vein entry 5k/min) → L4 (15% gather efficiency) → R5 (gather speed active)
- F2P target: 380,000–500,000 Orichalcum is achievable by mastering patrol farming + outburst timing + recall trick — without contesting the Smelter
- Smelter bonus breakdown (Rank 1–10): 100k / 80k / 60k / 55k / 50k / 40k / 35k / 30k / 25k / 20k Orichalcum
- Ranking rewards: Charm Designs and Charm Guides for Chief Gear upgrades at top ranks; Avatar Frames and Gems for mid-tier
King of Icefield (KoI) — 7-Day Individual Event
A 7-day solo scoring event (Monday–Sunday) that matches 6 states in a cross-state bracket. Each day has a different themed activity. Your primary goal: collect all 14 Medals of Honor by hitting the top two milestone tiers (Tiers 3 and 4) each day. Medals are redeemable in the Medal Shop for Mythic Skill Manuals or the current generation's featured hero shards.
| Day | Theme | Best Resources to Spend | F2P Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | City Construction | Refined Fire Crystals (30,000 pts each), Fire Crystals, Construction/Research Speedups | ★★★★☆ |
| Day 2 | Hero Development | Mithril, Lucky Wheel spins (8,000 pts each), Expert Sigils, Essence Stones, Hero Shards | ★★★★☆ |
| Day 3 | Basic Skills Upgrade | Advanced Wild Marks (pet refinement — 15,000 pts each, best F2P value in all of KoI) | ★★★★★ |
| Day 4 | Combat Training | Troop promotion (tier-up existing troops — costs only time difference, far more efficient than training fresh) | ★★★★☆ |
| Day 5 | Skills & Equipment | Mithril + Essence Stones — highest point-per-resource day. Widely cited as the most valuable day overall. | ★★★★★ |
| Day 6 | Combat Training | Same as Day 4. Chief Gear upgrades also score here — don't neglect them. | ★★★★☆ |
| Day 7 | Hero Development | Same structure as Day 2. Use any remaining Hero Shards and Lucky Wheel spins. | ★★★★☆ |
- Never spend event resources on the wrong day: Mithril used on Day 1 instead of Day 2/5 wastes all its point potential — the single costliest mistake in KoI
- Lucky Wheel spins = 8,000 pts each on Days 2 and 7 only: Spin only on Hero Development days
- 250,000 cumulative points = State Rank rewards: A reasonable target for consistent mid-game players
- Medal Shop priority: Mythic Skill Manuals as default; current featured hero shards if you're actively building that hero (shards may be unavailable after the season rotation changes)
- Save heavy spending for SvS: State of Power (SvS) generally delivers better returns on large resource dumps — don't exhaust your stockpile on KoI leaderboard chasing
Sunfire Castle Battle (SFC) — Monthly Alliance PvP
The monthly battle for state control. Two variants: Intra-State SFC (alliances within your state fight once per month, Saturday during the Brothers in Arms week) and SvS SFC (the climax of State vs State, two states clash). Winning grants Government Appointment Rights — your R5 becomes State President and appoints ministry seats with state buffs. The map has the Sunfire Castle flanked by two Turrets.
Hold the Castle for 2.5 consecutive hours to win outright, or have the longest cumulative hold time when the 5-hour timer expires.
Three scoring types: Carnage Points (kills at Castle/Turrets), Occupation Points (deployed power ÷ 1,000 per minute), Casualty Points (your own losses — highest per-unit value of the three).
Two Turrets flank the Castle. Enemy-held Turrets bombard your garrison — the longer they're held, the more powerful they become. Capture at least one Turret before assaulting the Castle. Holding a Turret + the Castle simultaneously doubles your Occupation Point income and neutralizes turret fire on your garrison.
Rally Attack: 50% Infantry / 20% Lancer / 30% Marksman. Lead with Jeronimo; fill joiners with Jessie (only joiner Slot 1 top-right skill activates).
Garrison Defense: Switch immediately to Patrick as primary garrison hero once you capture the Castle. Patrick's defensive Expedition Skills stack across multiple defenders using him.
2 hours before battle, a storm sweeps the Alert Zone and randomly relocates any city already inside it. Don't teleport into the Alert Zone until the 1-hour pre-event window opens.
Teleporting in drops your shield — it cannot be reactivated while inside. Reinforcing allies does NOT drop your shield — use this if you cannot rally.
- Infirmary check first: Confirm total Infirmary + Medical Tent capacity exceeds your full march size before every major march — troops killed beyond capacity are costly to recover
- Coordinate double rallies: 2–3 rally captains near the Castle with 7–8 joiners each simultaneously is harder to counter than a single large rally
- Farm Casualty Points: Attack-heal cycles on Turrets generate Casualty Points — the highest per-unit value scoring category — even when you don't hold the building
- Only one march to the Castle per player: Plan march timing carefully; you cannot stack multiple personal marches on the Castle simultaneously
Alliance Championship — Weekly Cross-Server League
A weekly cross-server event where 6 alliances of similar strength compete in a 5-round group stage. Sign-up closes Wednesday 23:00 UTC. Battle rounds run Thursday–Saturday, each with a preparation phase followed by a 1-hour battle. The competitive ladder runs from Bronze to Ultimate tier, with promotion and relegation each week based on performance.
Each round: capture 2 of 3 flagged lanes to win. Each lane has 20 combatants fighting sequential 1v1s. Win two fights in a row and you return to fight again — placement order matters. Put your strongest fighters in positions most likely to get the win streak. Alliance leadership should stack top 40 players in 2 lanes for a reliable 2–1 win rather than spreading evenly and risking a 0–3 loss.
Activate all Pet Buffs, Troop Attack buffs, and March Size increases before registering — buffs are locked at registration. Change the default 33/33/33 troop ratio to 50/20/30 Infantry/Lancer/Marksman. Select heroes based on Expedition Skills only — Jessie's Stand of Arms is the top pick. Never bring Gina into Championship combat (her Expedition Skills have no combat value).
Championship Badges (weekly currency) are spent in the AC Shop. Priority order: Design Plans (500 Badges each, up to 5/week) → Polishing Solution (100 Badges each) → Hardened Alloy (1 Badge each).
Alliance Statue Gathering Boost unlocks at Silver III: 3% Silver → 5% Gold → 7% Diamond → 10% Ultimate across all 4 resources.
All alliance members who reach Ultimate tier receive the exclusive Knight cosmetic set (city skin, march skin, nameplate, avatar frame) — available for 14 days only. Tier demotion is possible at Diamond and Ultimate for sustained poor placement, so maintain active participation from your core fighters every week.
Foundry Battle — Bi-Weekly Furnace 16+ Event
A bi-weekly 60-minute alliance PvP event (Furnace 16+ required). Two alliances — each fielding up to 2 Legions of 30 primary fighters + 10 substitutes — compete to capture and hold strategic buildings for Capture Points and per-minute Occupation Points. Arsenal Tokens earned fund the Foundry Shop.
| Building | Points on Capture | Points / Min Held | Phase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boiler Room | — | — | Phase 1 — halves capture time for all buildings |
| Central Transit Station | — | — | Phase 1 — halves teleport cooldown |
| Imperial Foundry | 9,000 | 1,800 / min | Phase 2 — highest single building |
| 4× Repair Facilities | — | 600 / min each (2,400 total) | Phase 2 — all 4 together outvalue the Foundry |
- Phase 1 priority — utility buildings first: The Boiler Room halves capture time for every building thereafter; the Central Transit Station halves teleport cooldown for repositioning — secure both before anything else
- Imperial Foundry is the highest single building, but not the only target: All four Repair Facilities together generate 2,400 pts/min — more than the Foundry's 1,800/min alone. Don't cede them while fixating on one building
- Always rally, never solo attack defended buildings: Solo attacks on garrisoned buildings waste troops and yield minimal points
- Activate all tech buffs before the battle: Chief gear, VIP bonuses, and research buffs cannot be applied once the event starts
- Arsenal Tokens → Foundry Shop: Design Plans, Charm Designs, gear materials, and Hero Fragments — the shop resets bi-weekly
Tundra Arms League — Seasonal Alliance Tournament
An extended alliance tournament format lasting ~18–21 days per season. Alliances register Legions (30 Combatants + 20 Substitutes each) and compete through an Elimination Phase (4 rounds: Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun) and a Championship Phase (top 4 Legions, 3 rounds). Matchmaking is based on the Troop Power of your top 20 registered Chiefs.
Sign-Up Phase runs Wednesday–Friday of Week 1. Lock your 30 strongest Combatants into Legion 1 first — do not split top players across both Legions unless your alliance is large enough to field competitive second legions independently.
Choose your 3 time slots carefully (from: 02, 07, 12, 14, 19 UTC) — this is locked for the full season. Match slots to your core active players' peak hours.
Battlefield phases: Phase 1 — Prototype Sites, Repair Facilities, Boiler Room, Transit Station. Phase 2 — Advanced Workshops added. Phase 3 — Imperial Foundry added (same building priority as Foundry Battle).
Win margins matter: Net point differential determines Championship seeding — winning 3–1 is significantly better than 2–1 for your bracket position.
Top 4 Legions only: 30-day exclusive March Skins (Champion's skin differs from 2nd–4th), Island Buildings, Champion Stakes, Arsenal Coins, Mithril, Fire Crystals, Mythic Hero General Shards.
All participants: Match Stakes + Champion Stakes based on personal Arsenal Points — even eliminated Legions earn Arsenal Points by continuing to participate.
Prepare hero setups and Battle Tech upgrades before registration closes — you cannot retroactively boost your matchmaking power. Use Spectator Mode and replay review to study opponent builds. Even after elimination, keep participating — your Arsenal Points still accumulate toward Legion Ranking rewards regardless of bracket position.
Lighthouse — Permanent Daily Missions (Furnace 7+)
The Lighthouse is a permanent daily content system that unlocks at Furnace level 7. It refreshes 3 times per day (every 8 hours), offering up to three mission slots of varying difficulty. The Lighthouse is one of the most reliable daily sources of Hero Shards, Skill Manuals, and speedups for non-event days.
Four mission categories rotate each refresh: Beast Hunt (fight world-map beasts), Rescue Survivor (rescue stranded civilians for resources), Hero's Journey (hero XP and shard missions), and Bounty (defeat a specific target for rare materials).
Each mission slot can be Common, Epic, or Mythic difficulty. Mythic missions give 3–5× the rewards of Common — always complete them first when they appear. Difficulty scales with your Furnace level and overall power.
Lighthouse drops include: Hero Shards (for featured heroes), XP books, Skill Manuals (for hero skill upgrades), construction/research speedups, and rare gear crafting materials. Mythic Bounty missions can drop Mythic hero fragments.
The Lighthouse can be upgraded up to Level 20 by completing missions and spending Lighthouse-specific materials. Higher levels unlock harder (more rewarding) mission tiers and additional mission slots per refresh cycle.
- Check 3× daily: The 8-hour refresh window means you'll miss slots if you only log in once — set alarms if needed and check at 8 AM / 4 PM / 12 AM
- Prioritize Hero's Journey missions: Hero Shard drops compound over time — a consistent Lighthouse habit accumulates shards for hero upgrades faster than most other F2P methods
- Don't skip Bounties: Bounty missions often drop rare materials that appear nowhere else in the daily economy — they're worth the march time
- Upgrade your Lighthouse: Each level increase meaningfully improves the reward floor — invest Lighthouse materials here before spending them elsewhere
Hero's Mission — Hunt Reapers for Hero Shards
Hero's Mission is a rolling event that tasks you with hunting Reapers (elite beasts) on the world map. Each kill drops Hero Shards for the currently featured hero — typically the current generation's flagship combat hero. The featured hero rotates, so check the current mission tab before spending resources elsewhere.
- March efficiency: Reapers can be far from your base — use gathering-speed heroes and multiple march queues to maximize Reaper kills per hour
- High-level Reapers give more shards: Always target the highest Reaper level you can defeat without losing troops. Use shield before marching into contested areas
- Check the featured hero first: If the featured hero is one you're already building (e.g., Jeronimo or Blanchette), prioritize this event heavily; if it's a hero you don't need, it's lower priority
- Stack with Beast-Hunting gear: Equip gathering/combat hybrid gear and beast-hunting hero skills to increase drop rates and reduce march losses
Grow Your Heroes — Rookie Server Hero Shard Event
This 2-day event awards milestone rewards for points earned by spending Hero Shards of any rarity. Points scale by rarity — Rare gives 15 pts, Epic gives 50 pts, Mythic gives 125 pts — but the real value comes from Rare and Epic shards you have in excess.
| Shard Rarity | Points per Shard | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Rare (Blue) | 15 | Spend freely — low Hall of Chiefs value |
| Epic (Purple) | 50 | Spend if you have excess after building your main hero |
| Mythic (Orange) | 125 | Hold for Hall of Chiefs (35,000 pts each there) |
- Hit the top milestone first: Calculate how many Rare/Epic shards you need for each milestone tier before spending any Mythic shards
- Focus on your current hero: Use this event to push stars on whichever hero you're actively building — combine the shard spending with a natural upgrade push
- One-time opportunity: This event only runs during the server's early weeks — don't let it expire without reaching the top milestone if you can do so with Rare/Epic shards alone
State vs State (SVS)
SVS is the pinnacle of Whiteout Survival. Your entire server battles another server's entire player base. The rewards are unmatched, but the preparation required is immense.
SVS Preparation Checklist
- 1Stockpile Speedups: The week before SVS, stop using speedups. Stack Construction, Research, and Troop Training speedups for SVS power spikes.
- 2Fill your Hospital: Never enter SVS with an empty hospital. Troop deaths during SVS are permanent. Healing costs nothing compared to retraining.
- 3Craft or upgrade Combat Gear: SVS is full PvP. Your best combat gear should be equipped and gemmed before the battle period.
- 4Coordinate with your alliance: Know your role — attacker, defender, or resource gatherer for the alliance war effort.
- 5Teleport to rally points: Your alliance will designate staging areas. Move there before the battle window opens.
- 6Shield management plan: Know exactly when to shield and when to fight. Unnecessary shielding loses territory.
SVS Battle Phase Tips
Attack players who are clearly weaker or shieldless. Avoid obviously strong targets with large armies — you waste march time and risk losing troops.
SVS points come from capturing tiles and destroying enemy buildings. Prioritize tile captures near your alliance cluster — connected territory scores bonus points.
Stay in alliance chat throughout SVS. Call for help when attacked, report enemy concentrations, and coordinate simultaneous strikes on priority targets.
Use healing speedups every time your hospital fills. Wounded troops sitting in hospital can't fight. Fast heal cycles = more attacks per day.
SVS Rewards
| Placement | Reward Quality | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| State Win (1st) | Legendary | Exclusive seasonal gear sets, massive speedup bundles |
| Individual Top 3 | Legendary | Named on server leaderboard, unique title + gear |
| Top 10 Individual | Epic | Premium speedups, exclusive hero shards |
| Top 50 Individual | Rare+ | Strong speedup bundle, alliance credits |
| All Participants | Good | Participation rewards just for contributing points |

F2P & Spending Guide
Whiteout Survival can be played competitively as F2P if you play efficiently. Knowing where every free gem goes, and what is worth spending on, is the difference between stalling and thriving.
Free Gem Sources (Daily/Weekly)
| Source | Gems/Day | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Quests | ~200 | Complete all daily quest objectives |
| Achievement Milestones | Variable | One-time — collect as you hit milestones |
| Bear Trap Events | ~100–300 | Event milestone rewards include gem packs |
| Alliance Help Received | ~50 | Passive — every help tick grants small gem amounts |
| Hero Tavern Daily Spin | Free spin | Occasionally lands on gem rewards |
| Chapter/Story Missions | ~500+ total | One-time per chapter — collect them all |
| Event Milestones | ~500–2000 | Major events give large gem milestone rewards |
| SVS Participation | ~1000–5000 | Biggest F2P gem income source |
VIP Levels — Milestones That Matter
VIP has two components: your permanent VIP Level (never resets) and your VIP Status (expires — requires monthly activation via gems or the VIP Monthly Card). You can accumulate VIP XP for free through gameplay, but you need active VIP Status to access the benefits.
| VIP Level | Key Unlock | F2P Priority |
|---|---|---|
| VIP 4 | +10% Construction Speed, +8% Resource Production, +300K Storehouse Capacity | Get here quickly |
| VIP 5 | +1 Squad Slot, +10% Resource Production, +400K Storehouse Capacity | Valuable for lineup management |
| VIP 6 | +1 March Queue — send one more simultaneous march | ⭐ Major milestone — more gathering & combat flexibility |
| VIP 7 | Daily free Mythic General Hero Shard + Mythic Manuals in VIP chest | ⭐ F2P primary target — the free daily Mythic shard compounds massively over months |
| VIP 8 | Daily rewards upgrade: Mythic Hero Shards + Skill Manuals daily | Strong target for low spenders — meaningful daily value jump from VIP 7 |
| VIP 9–12 | Troop combat stat boosts (ATK, HP, DEF, Lethality); custom avatar at VIP 9 | Long-term goal — XP jump from VIP 8→9 exceeds the total cost of VIP 1–8 combined |
Gem Spending Priority (Step-by-Step)
Best Value Purchases (If Spending)
Small monthly cost for daily gem income, extra build queue, and construction bonuses. By far the best $/value purchase in the entire game. Worth it if you play daily.
First purchase in many categories gives 10x or 20x value. If you're spending anything, do first-purchase deals in as many categories as you can afford.
Season passes during SVS periods give exceptional return — premium rewards for active participation. Only buy if you'll actively play throughout the season.
Advanced Strategies
These techniques separate good players from exceptional ones. They require coordination, timing, and deep understanding of game mechanics.
Power Spike Events
- Construction Spike: Queue 10+ building upgrades simultaneously. Equip Construction gear, then fire all speedups at once for maximum event points
- Research Spike: Same principle — stockpile research speedups and fire during Research Power events
- Troop Spike: Fill all training queues with the highest tier troops available, then use Training speedups all at once
- Gear Spike: Save gear crafting for Crafting events — each piece crafted generates power and event points
Hospital Capacity Management
Your safe march size = Hospital Capacity. Never send more troops than this in a situation where you could lose. Use the formula: Hospital Beds = Max Attack March Size (outside of shield).
Research Hospital Capacity techs in parallel with troop training. A growing army outpaces hospital space fast. Every tier of hospital research is immediately valuable.
Gear Swapping Mastery
- 1Construction Swap: Equip Construction gear → start building → immediately swap back to another set. The speed bonus is baked in at the moment the queue starts.
- 2Research Swap: Same as construction — equip Research gear, start research queue, swap off. Repeat every research.
- 3Pre-Battle Swap: Always have Combat gear equipped before attacks land. If defending, equip combat gear the moment you see an incoming march notification.
- 4Gathering Rotation: Send march with Gathering gear on. Immediately swap back to Construction/Research gear for passive base gains while troops are out.
Fake Power / Deception
- Lower troop count appearance: Keeping T1 fill troops in your city makes your power look lower to scouts than it actually is for kills
- Garrison out: Park your best troops in an ally's city before a scout, making your base appear weak. Recall right before an attack
- Bait shields: Go unshielded with apparent excess resources to bait weak players into attacking, then have allies zero them in retaliation
State Selection & Migration
- Young states (1–30 days old): Best for F2P growth — power gaps are smaller and consistent players can reach top 10
- Mature states: Power gaps are enormous — only worth joining if migrating to a friend group or known alliance
- Migration items: Pioneer Migration lets you move to young states. Advanced Migration lets you move anywhere. Both are rare and should not be wasted
- Multi-state play: Some competitive players run accounts in different states to maximize event participation windows
Alliance Leadership Tips (For R4/R5)
- Prioritize activity over power — a 500K active player beats a 5M ghost player
- Set minimum participation requirements for AW and SVS
- Use a probation system — new recruits must participate in one AW before getting full member status
- Recruit players from different time zones for 24/7 alliance coverage
- Maintain a connected territory hive — disconnected plots can't be defended
- Prioritize special resource tiles (coal, iron, steel) for alliance territory
- Maintain buffer territory between your hive and enemy alliances for early attack warning
- Buffer territory between your hive and enemy alliances provides attack warning time
- Assign attack and defense roles before SVS starts — no time to organize mid-battle
- Use a Discord or external chat for real-time SVS coordination (in-game chat is too slow)
- Designate rally leaders who have the biggest march capacity and strongest combat heroes
- Establish shield signals — members need to know when it's safe to go unshielded for attacks
- Track enemy alliance activity windows — most alliances have dead hours based on timezone
Common Mistakes & How to Avoid Them
These are the 15 most consistently cited mistakes across all major Whiteout Survival community guides, Reddit, and strategy wikis. Each one can set you back days or weeks. Know them before they happen to you.
The mistake: Side-building while ignoring Furnace upgrades. Upgrading farms and walls instead of pushing to the next Furnace level.
Why it hurts: Every other building is capped at your Furnace level. A Furnace-1 delay is a delay to every single future upgrade and unlock. Furnace is the chain that pulls everything else.
Fix: Always know what your next Furnace level requires and be actively working toward it. Never use speedups on buildings other than Furnace prerequisites unless the Furnace is already under construction.
The mistake: Using construction, research, or training speedups on small timers between major events — especially 5–30 minute tasks.
Why it hurts: Every speedup minute burned outside SVS Prep Phase is worth zero event points. During SVS, each speedup minute generates approximately 30 event points. The math is brutal — a 24-hour speedup used on a random building upgrade could have scored ~43,000 SVS points instead.
Fix: Stop burning speedups 2 weeks before SVS. Let buildings finish on their own for smaller timers. Use speedups only for Furnace upgrades, troop tier unlocks, and SVS windows. Treat speedups as premium currency, not a shortcut.
The mistake: Leveling 5+ heroes to skill level 3–4 each instead of maxing 2–3 heroes completely.
Why it hurts: Skill Manuals are one of the scarcest resources in the game. Hero power scales steeply — a maxed hero is far more effective than two half-built heroes at the same total manual cost. Combat skills at max level unlock passive effects that don't exist at lower ranks.
Fix: Pick your primary combat hero, your best joiner (Jessie), and one development hero (Flint or Cloris). Max their key skills before touching anyone else. Reset skills are expensive and should be a last resort.
The mistake: Staying in a dead alliance or joining the first one you see just for the alliance help button.
Why it hurts: A good alliance gives you: build help that saves days of construction time, Alliance Technology buffs (passive stat boosts), rally participation for Polar Terror, the Alliance Store (hero medals, materials), protection from bullies, and event ranking coordination. A dead alliance gives you almost nothing.
Fix: Evaluate alliances by activity (R4/R5 communication frequency, member online count), not by member power. An active smaller alliance beats a ghost top-10 alliance. Look for one that does coordinated Polar Terror rallies daily.
The mistake: Sending more troops into battle than your Infirmary can hold. Or letting the Infirmary fill up without healing before the next battle.
Why it hurts: Troops that are wounded and fit inside the Infirmary heal for free. Troops that overflow the Infirmary capacity are permanently dead — gone forever, requiring full resources and time to retrain from scratch.
Fix: Keep Infirmary capacity always equal to or above your maximum march size. Research Hospital Capacity in the Growth tree. Heal wounded troops immediately after every battle before sending another march. Your safe march size = Infirmary capacity.
The mistake: Sending troops at a target — player or beast — without first scouting them.
Why it hurts: You can't know enemy troop count, composition, trap setups, or hospital capacity without a scout. Attacking a player whose hospital exceeds your kill capacity means their troops heal for free while yours get wounded. Attacking a beast above your power level means permanent troop losses.
Fix: Scout is free and fast. Always scout before any significant attack. Check enemy hospital capacity vs. your expected kill count. If their hospital > your kills, find a weaker target.
The mistake: Using the game's default equal troop split for every situation.
Why it hurts: The 10% counter bonus in close fights is decisive. Against a static PvE boss like Polar Terror, equal split wastes troop slots that should be Marksmen. In SVS garrison defense, Marksmen in a static garrison are liabilities, not assets.
Fix: Polar Terror = 60% Marksman. Fortress/SVS attack = 50% Infantry, 30% Lancer, 20% Marksman. SVS garrison defense = 60% Infantry, 40% Lancer, 0% Marksman. See the Troop Compositions table for the full breakdown.
The mistake: Logging off with resources above your Storehouse protection cap and no shield active.
Why it hurts: Unshielded cities are free targets for anyone. Players actively hunt for cities with excess resources visible above the protection cap. You can lose hours of gathering gains in seconds.
Fix: Rule: If you're going offline and your resources exceed Storehouse protection, apply a Peace Shield. Alternatively, spend down your unprotected resources on building upgrades or troop training before logging off. Keep short shields for short offline windows, 8-hour shields for overnight.
The mistake: Filling training queues with T1–T3 troops when T4+ is unlocked and affordable.
Why it hurts: T1/T2 troops have terrible resource/power ratios and die first in battle, clogging your Infirmary with weak casualties. Training 10,000 T2 troops costs resources that could fund 2,000 T4 troops — and the T4 army is far stronger.
Fix: Always train the highest tier you can unlock and afford. T1/T2 are only useful as passive garrison fillers to hide your true power from scouts. Never actively train them once T3+ is available.
The mistake: Using the "buy resources" or "buy speed-ups" gem options when running low.
Why it hurts: Gem resources are one of the worst value purchases in the game — you pay premium currency for amounts you could gather in under an hour. Gems spent here are gems not going toward VIP levels or Lucky Wheel pulls that compound permanently.
Fix: Treat gems like long-term investments, not short-term fixes. VIP XP to level 7 is your primary gem sink. Lucky Wheel for featured heroes is second. Everything else is situational. Resources come from gathering — speed the gathering up with gear and research, don't buy them.
The mistake: Treating events as optional side content and only doing them occasionally.
Why it hurts: Events are the primary free source of Hero Medals, Skill Manuals, premium speedups, and exclusive materials for F2P and low-spender accounts. Missing events doesn't just cost you one day's rewards — it falls you behind players who treat them as mandatory.
Fix: Check active events every login. Bear Traps daily is non-negotiable. Polar Terror whenever spawned. King of Icefield milestone completion every day. Set daily alarm reminders if needed. Lighthouse missions check 3× per day.
The mistake: Relying only on city production for resources and letting march queues sit empty.
Why it hurts: City production is a fraction of what active gathering provides. Every idle march queue is a lost resource opportunity. The top resource accumulators in any state gather 24/7 with full march queues.
Fix: Send gathering marches on every available march slot, every login. Set overnight marches before bed. Equip Gathering Gear and use gathering specialist heroes. Economy Research (Gathering Speed, Cargo Capacity) compounds these gains permanently.
The mistake: Not building the Research Center immediately at Furnace 9, or not keeping it constantly running.
Why it hurts: Research provides permanent, compounding stat improvements that never expire. Tool Enhancement (Research Speed) and Tooling Up (Construction Speed) alone pay for themselves dozens of times over. Every day the Research Center sits idle is a permanent loss of future efficiency.
Fix: Build the Research Center the moment Furnace 9 is reached. Start Tool Enhancement immediately — it makes every future research faster. Always have something queued. Never let the Research Center go idle.
The mistake: Entering the SVS battle window unshielded, with a partially full hospital, or without designating shield-up times with your alliance.
Why it hurts: SVS is full server-wide PvP with real troop losses. An unshielded city with a full Infirmary and no coordination loses all wounded troops permanently in minutes. SVS is the only mode where one mistake can set your army back weeks.
Fix: Fill your hospital before SVS starts. Know your alliance's shield signals. Never go unshielded during SVS unless you have troops out attacking AND your hospital is empty AND you're actively monitoring. Pre-read the SVS Guide section for the full preparation checklist.
The mistake: Maxing one building type (e.g., all three troop camps to level 20) while letting the Infirmary, Research Center, or Storehouse fall far behind.
Why it hurts: Each building serves an interconnected role. A maxed troop camp with a tiny Infirmary means permanent troop losses. A high Furnace with a neglected Research Center means missing critical research prerequisites and tech tree nodes. Uneven development creates systemic bottlenecks.
Fix: Use the Furnace upgrade prerequisites screen as your guide — it tells you exactly what each building needs to be before the next Furnace level unlocks. Treat building balance as a constraint, not a suggestion.
Endgame Guide — FC Era, Helios & Beyond
At Furnace 30, the standard progression ends and the Fire Crystal (FC) Era begins. This is a fundamentally different game — resources change, buildings are upgraded differently, and the strongest troops in the game (Helios and T12) become accessible only through the new War Academy system.
Furnace 30 — The Biggest Gate in the Game
Reaching Furnace 30 requires Embassy 29 + Marksman Camp 29 (among other prerequisites). The cost is staggering — roughly 300M Wood, 60M Coal, 15M Iron, 300M Meat, with a build time of ~40 days. This is a multi-month commitment even for active players.
T10 (Apex) troops — the highest regular troop tier. The Fire Crystal building upgrade system — all buildings now upgrade with Fire Crystals instead of standard resources. Access to the War Academy path. Entry into the top tier of SVS competitive play.
The Fire Crystal Era (FC1–FC10)
Beyond Furnace 30, every building upgrade uses Fire Crystals instead of wood/coal/iron/meat. Each main FC level (FC1 through FC10) has four sub-levels (e.g., FC1-1, FC1-2, FC1-3, FC1-4) before the next major tier. So "FC1 to FC10" actually represents 40+ individual upgrades per building.
| FC Milestone | Key Unlock | Note |
|---|---|---|
| FC1 | Fire Crystal Era begins; T10 → FC1 troop upgrade | First FC level — start here after Furnace 30 |
| FC3 | Crystal Skills unlock for FC troops | New passive abilities for your FC troops activate |
| FC5 | War Academy unlocks (once both Furnace and War Academy reach FC5) | ⭐ Critical gate — Helios research begins here |
| FC8 | Additional special skills for FC troops | Late-game power milestone |
| FC10 | Maximum FC progression; War Academy FC5 = Helios access | Practical endgame ceiling for most players |
Helios Troops (T11) — War Academy Research
Helios troops are the Tier 11 army — the first "super-tier" above the FC ladder. They are researched exclusively through the War Academy, a new building that unlocks after your Furnace and War Academy both reach FC5.
The War Academy has three independent Helios branches (one per troop type). Each branch requires approximately 13,400 Fire Crystal Shards and ~271 days raw research time before speedups and buffs. This is intentionally a long journey.
Community consensus is Helios Infantry first. The same logic as gear/charm priority applies at the troop tier level: your frontline determines whether your entire army survives. Helios Infantry creates an insurmountable tank advantage in equal fights.
The War Academy's "Ardent tree" delivers some of the largest single-node combat stat increases in the entire game. Unlike standard Research Center nodes, Ardent tree nodes are designed to create meaningful gaps between players who have unlocked them and those who haven't.
T12 Exalted & Molten Troops
T12 was released in April 2026 for states on Gen 10+ heroes. It introduces two sub-systems:
- T12 Exalted (Tier 1): 5 short research tracks per troop type, each 5 levels at +3% per level = +15% per stat track total. Costs ~440 Refined Fire Crystals + 3,080 FC Shards per troop type
- T12 Molten (Tiers 2–4): Three deeper tracks (20/50/50 levels each, +1% per level). Full Molten ladder = +120% on a single stat
- T12 new mechanic: A damage-absorbing shield activates at battle start, scaling with T12 research level — a fundamentally new defensive layer
- F2P timeline reality: Full T12 completion requires ~55M steel, 12,000 refined Fire Crystals, 201,000 FC Shards. This is realistically a multi-year investment for F2P players
Endgame Progression Checklist
- 1Reach Furnace 30: Push all prerequisite buildings to level 29 (Embassy, Marksman Camp primarily). This is the single most resource-intensive gate in the game — start planning resource stockpiling at Furnace 25.
- 2Upgrade T10 to FC1+: Immediately after Furnace 30, begin upgrading your Troop Camps to FC1 for the free T10→FC1 troop upgrade. Focus Infantry Camp first.
- 3Push to FC5: Both your Furnace and War Academy must reach FC5 before Helios research unlocks. Plan building order so both progress in parallel.
- 4Start War Academy — Helios Infantry first: Begin the Ardent tree Helios Infantry branch immediately when the War Academy reaches FC5. Never let the War Academy sit idle.
- 5Complete Helios Infantry before branching: Finish one Helios type fully before splitting research into the second. Partially researched branches provide partial benefits — complete is exponentially better.
- 6Helios Marksman, then Helios Lancer: After Infantry is complete, follow the same priority order as gear — Marksman second, Lancer third.
